Escaping the Box You Built for Yourself

We have massive inertia toward comfort and security. Following this tendency leads to a life that is predictable and low-risk. We stop asking new questions and we do the things we are already good at. We box ourselves into an ever smaller life. We think the same thoughts and do the same stuff—over and over again. The cost of living small is the loss of adventure and the growth that comes with it. We might lose opportunities and diminish the impact we could have on others.

So what’s the way out?  We break the box by disrupting our patterns. We ask new questions and take different actions.

This week, I invite you to ask:

What area of my life would improve if I disrupted how I currently think about it? What are three questions I could ask that would challenge my existing beliefs? What area of my life would benefit if I disrupted how I currently act? What are three actions I could take that would disrupt my activity?

God bless,
Dan
